Good skills! I'd need more than cotton, canvas, a fat stove and a load of India Pale Ale to get me out in the Winter wilderness. It would take at least a decent bottle of bourbon and a camper van!

You have good writing skills and what's concerning the winter camping then it's my passion too. You get used to severe weather conditions and in my opinion somehow moves you closer to the nature.

I love camping at winter. A cold environment gives you a real sense of adventure and living in the great outdoors on the edge of an extreme.

This is harcore wild camping. You really need to know your survival skills to be safe in such conditions, yet the sense of achievement from doing so is hugely rewarding.

After cold camping once in the northwoods, I thought that I would never spend a winter night out again - until I was convinced to spend a night in a Snowtrekker Tent. Now, I wouldn’t winter camp any other way. It is easy to get to winter solitude (even without the dogs) and in the tent it is warm enough to stay up late and play cards in your long underwear. Personally, I would take a little darker beer, like the Big Boat Stout. And my wool anorak takes me from the city to the woods and back again.

WOW, I am really impressed with the bravery! Winter camping or snow walking as it was formerly called seems crazy! But it sounds like you came through it like a champ and enjoyed it along the way. In my head I imagine doing this and enjoying it, but I think I will stick to summer camping! Thanks for sharing this story - it was a great read.
