I always giggle at the “last best place in Colorado” rhetoric. Needless to say, this guy (Gifford, is that his name?) hasn’t spent much time in the state nor will I ever waste the effort to pick up a “Men’s Journal” magazine. Half of this story is garbage.

Round two of the Roan debacle will be the revival of the oil shale fantasies. Shell has a test plot on the west end that they will claim shows the idea is viable. They have already cornered all the water rights in western Colorado, and the next step is to convince Washington that if a little-itty-bitty nuclear power plant could be built in Green River, Utah, billions of barrels of oil can be magically (with billions of barrels of water and billions of megawatts of electricity) made to gush from rocks.

Salazar isn't stupid, and it won't happen as long as he is head of Interior, but wait until he is gone and another brainless, oil-soaked Republican administration arrives. Kiss it all goodbye.
