I remember him saying that after he got his silver medal and now when I hear that, it breaks my heart. Even though he said it and his gone, that statement is still true. I hope people see that even though life isn’t easy, there is always a way to overcome the bad in it.

It’s heartbreaking to think of the internal pain this talented athlete must have been feeling. While many people label suicide a selfish act, I believe a person who commits suicide is prbably feeling dispair and hopelessness, rather than selfishness. RIP Jeret Peterson. My condolences to his family and close friends.

Very tragic; his struggle began with the child abuse and was exacerbated by a lot of other tragedies and choices.

The bottom line is that we must stop child abuse in America and around the world by being proactive versus reactive. RIP Jeret!!!

My family just learned that Speedy died by his own hand last night in the hills outside Salt Lake City. He was a hometown hero and we love him and his mom. He was indeed a come back kid.

Here’s hoping he has found the peace that escaped him in this life.

i met him, recently in Salt Lake City. in an event with Turner Media. And he is this kid who just walks around with a smile on his face. first me and my friends put on fake medals and he was like “those are impressive, im jelous” and then we wanted his autograph and on our way downstairs we ran into him at the elevator and i said “i promise you we are not stalking you” and he jokingly said “whatever” and then as my friend carola was spelling his name she said c-a-o so i started calling her cow and on my autograph he wrote “you’re friend is not a cow”. he’s an inspiration trully

I am truly amazed at the history of Peterson. He has no doubt gone through such a long process of anguish and has experienced a lot – but to see him try and get himself through all of it, not just for himself but for the ones he cares for is beautiful.
I hope he has a full happy recovery, and he did a really awesome job at the Olympic, good luck to him!
