Watch it Wall-Size
New projectors can produce crisp, eye-popping imagery at more than 100 inches diagonally, fired from across the room. Forget what you experienced from the dim projectors of years past: The latest digital ones are brighter, quieter, and, yes, cheaper than ever. We’ve been blown away by Sony’s VPL-HW30ES [$3,700], left, which produces a full 1080p HD and 3-D image that’s bright and vibrant, with deep, dark blacks, rich colors, a life-like 70,000:1 contrast ratio, and a quick 240Hz refresh rate. We’ve seen comparable projectors priced at more than $5,000. A less costly but still impressive option: Epson’s PowerLite Home Cinema 3010 Projector, right at the sweet spot of price and performance at $2,000.
